On June 12, Atlanta was buzzing with anticipation. The city was deep in FIFA World Cup fever as promotional events and activations filled the streets surrounding Mercedes Benz Stadium. Against that backdrop, I found myself outside VSATL immersed in one of the most talked about releases of the summer, BabyChiefDoit’s new album RAMBO, short for Rise Against My Broken Odds.
The setting could not have been more fitting. Atlanta is a city built on resilience, reinvention, and ambition. Those same themes pulse throughout RAMBO. Across seventeen tracks, BabyChiefDoit delivers a project that feels larger than life while remaining grounded in the hunger that has fueled his meteoric rise from Chicago’s South Side to national recognition.
From the opening moments of Laugh Now, Cry Later, BabyChiefDoit establishes that this album is not interested in subtlety. The energy is immediate and relentless. His confidence cuts through booming production, aggressive percussion, and cinematic arrangements. It is the sound of an artist fully aware that the spotlight is on him and completely comfortable carrying the weight.
The title track, RAMBO, serves as the album’s mission statement. It is loud, unapologetic, and packed with the charisma that has become BabyChiefDoit’s trademark. The record captures the determination behind the acronym Rise Against My Broken Odds, transforming personal adversity into a battle cry. Listening outside VSATL while Atlanta celebrated its place on the world stage made the song feel even bigger.
What stands out most throughout Rise Against My Broken Odds is the consistency. Tracks like Gimmie A Kiss, Live By The Gun, and Game Six keep the momentum moving forward without sacrificing personality. BabyChiefDoit attacks nearly every beat with urgency, giving listeners very few opportunities to catch their breath.
One of the strongest moments arrives with WENT WEST, a track that showcases his growing ability to balance swagger and storytelling. The song feels destined for festival stages and packed venues, blending larger than life production with memorable bars. On The Run and Ghetto Love Story reveal another layer of the project, offering moments that feel more reflective while maintaining the album’s hard edged identity.
The guest appearances are strategically placed rather than overwhelming. New York inspired anthem NY featuring B Jack$ and ZEDDY WILL injects regional flavor and chemistry. Meanwhile, DTM featuring BunnaB and YKNIECE adds another burst of energy that complements BabyChiefDoit’s commanding presence rather than competing with it.
The second half of the album continues to surprise. The Story Of Jane and Dear Jonathan introduce more narrative driven songwriting, allowing listeners to glimpse the person behind the bravado. Y’all Can’t Kill Me feels particularly symbolic, capturing the persistence that defines the entire project. It is the kind of record that reinforces the album’s central theme of overcoming obstacles regardless of the odds stacked against you.
Tracks such as Get High and Party Girl (Pop That Bottle) bring celebratory energy to the project, creating balance between the street narratives and the lifestyle rewards that come with success. Apple Of My Eye offers a memorable emotional touch before Outro closes the experience on a reflective note.
What makes RAMBO especially effective is its understanding of pacing. The project rarely slows down, yet it never feels repetitive. The production blends old school aggression with modern trap aesthetics, creating a soundscape tailored perfectly to BabyChiefDoit’s animated delivery. Every track contributes to a larger narrative of growth, ambition, and survival.

Experiencing Rise Against My Broken Odds during one of Atlanta’s most exciting cultural moments added another layer to the listening experience. With the city preparing to welcome the world through the FIFA World Cup and fans gathering across downtown, the album felt like the soundtrack to youthful confidence and relentless determination.
BabyChiefDoit has always possessed star potential, but RAMBO feels like the project where everything starts clicking into place. The album showcases a young artist becoming more comfortable with his voice, more intentional with his songwriting, and more capable of carrying a full length project from start to finish.
If this album is any indication of where BabyChiefDoit is headed next, the rest of the rap world should be paying close attention. Rise Against My Broken Odds is more than just an album title. It is a declaration of intent.
