Known for its unwavering commitment to artistry, Atlanta’s legendary studio has welcomed some of music’s most celebrated names. From iconic public figures like Minister Louis Farrakhan and Anderson .Paak to boundary-pushing musicians such as Masego and Tia Fuller, Patchwerk has long been a creative home for artists shaping culture. But beyond the stars whose names appear in headlines are musicians who help give those records their heartbeat. The composers, instrumentalists, arrangers, and session players who walk these halls often remain behind the scenes, even though their artistry is woven into the soundtrack of our lives.

Minister Louis Farrakhan

Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan’s album “Let’s Save the World,” contains music the classically trained violinist has performed and produced.

Born Louis Eugene Walcott on May 11, 1933, in the Bronx, New York, Minister Louis  Farrakhan has served as the leader of the Nation of Islam since 1981. Revered for his commanding presence and powerful oratory, many are surprised to learn that he is also a classically trained violinist.

Long before stepping behind the podium, Farrakhan performed under the stage name The Charmer, showcasing his musical talent through classical performances. During a visit to Atlanta, he recorded violin arrangements at Patchwerk Recording Studios, contributing strings to collaborative projects with artists including Snoop Dogg.

Anderson .Paak

Hailing from Oxnard, California, Anderson .Paak has established himself as one of music’s most versatile performers. A multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, rapper, drummer, and producer, his journey began behind the drums in his hometown church.

Before becoming Anderson .Paak, he released music under the name Breezy LoveJoy, dropping his debut mixtape O.B.E. Vol. 1 in 2012. After rebranding in 2013, he released his first studio album, Venice, introducing the soulful, genre-blending sound that would define his career.

In 2019, .Paak stepped into Patchwerk alongside Grammy-winning engineer Luke Campolieta to record portions of Ventura. The album went on to earn the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album in 2020, adding another milestone to both his career and Patchwerk’s legacy.

Masego

Micah Davis, better known as Masego, has built a lane entirely his own. Seamlessly blending jazz, R&B, soul, and hip-hop, he’s become known for making the saxophone as much a lead voice as his vocals.

His 2015 release, The Pink Polo EP, introduced audiences to his signature sound and caught the attention of industry veterans, including DJ Jazzy Jeff. A familiar face at Patchwerk, Masego continues to use the studio as a creative home, recording music that bends genres while staying rooted in authentic musicianship.

Tia Fuller

Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader Tia Fuller has spent her career redefining excellence in jazz. Many know her as a featured saxophonist in Beyoncé’s all-female touring band, but her résumé stretches far beyond the stage.

Fuller has served as assistant musical director for Esperanza Spalding’s Radio Music Society Tour, teaches in the Ensembles Department at Berklee College of Music, and was featured as one of the jazz musicians whose performances helped inspire Pixar’s Soul.

As both an innovator and educator, Fuller has also graced the halls of Patchwerk, bringing her artistry, musicianship, and passion for excellence into the studio. Her presence is another reminder that Patchwerk celebrates every form of musical expression.
